Junior Holiday Tennis Camps
WOW ... 2019 sees our junior holiday tennis camps entering their 15th year!!
As a result and with many thanks to all the customer feedback we have received over the years our camps have established a really fantastic reputation. We believe this reputation has been built on a foundation of the experience we have gained from looking after, teaching, listening and understanding the needs of children of all ages, abilities and walks of life. We pride ourselves on these reputations and welcome you to come and join us whether it is for a single session, a day or for an entire camp.
All of our coaches are experienced LTA licensed, DRB checked and First Aid appointed people. Helping our coaches are the assistants who are hand picked and training to work with both the children and as part of a team. Without the team none of this would be possible!!
Our camps run daily throughout the school holidays and are scheduled in parallel to the Barnet Council school term dates.
To ensure the quality of experience for all those attending we initially split campers into age groups. For example children aged 4-7 years are invited to start in the mini tennis camp. This is a speciality camp, taken by our coaches with the patience and understanding needed to help younger children, or those starting tennis, to enjoy and learn the basics of tennis.
MINI TENNIS CAMP:
This is a two hour camp, each morning, that runs between 10-12pm. Here, those starting out their tennis adventure or those aged 4-7 years come together and learn both the ABC's (Agility, Balance and Coordination) specifically required for tennis. These exercises are taught through games and activities with specialist equipment to ensure the experience is fun. These ABC's are taught each day to start the camp and are followed by a specific tennis stroke as they begin to learn the game. By the end of each camp all the children will have been shown, helped and practised the tennis forehand, backhand, volley and serve. It's so much fun and we have found over the years that those who start in our mini tennis camps frequently return to the term time programme and continue their fun and learning.
Our tennis day camp runs from 10am - 3.30pm on a daily basis. Here children aged 8 upwards come together for the day to learn, socialise, and practise the tennis shots and techniques needed to experience and enjoy tennis. Each day the campers start together for a full range or warm up drills, coordination exercises and games to help the basic footwork needed for the technical parts of tennis strokes and shots.
Following the warm-up's campers then have a more intense period of technical learning, a different tennis shot each day. Here, demonstrations from the coaches and more experienced players allow the campers to become coaches themselves. We ask the children to watch and give feedback to help their learning. This is great for assisting their understanding of what is being asked of them, to play the specific tennis stroke. Following these demo's the campers are split into ability specific groups to practise their shots.
Returning campers love the consistency and range of games and drills we deploy. Many have come to camps year after year and ask to demonstrate or choose their favourite games and drills. We have loads, and can guarantee your child will have a favourite to take home and tell you about.
